@reconelement The head phone jack on my laptop broke after plugging headphones in about 6 times. They supposedly fixed it and the jack broke again. Yes, they use junk parts for sure.

@AquaCarb I've had some unrelated problems with mine: plugged it in to my TV via HDMI, and after that the headphone jack stopped working right... then the GPU was overheating. Most recently I was getting the staticky flicker... I won't be buying anymore Asus shit.

@reconelement The laptop was sent in a fixed by ASUS but I had to complain to the California Attorney General. Their Customer Service sucks.. Never buy an ASUS again.

@reconelement 4 screws on the panel I mean.

On the bottom there should be a fairly large panel that's removable... it has probably screws. You can check under there and make sure the two black and white wires are covered and plugged in properly. That just seems like a defective part though, I don't know. Horrible though.

@PeacefulHedgehog There is a video on RUclips on how to fix the flicker - bad connection but I don't the average person would be able to take the laptop apart and put it back together.

I had the EXACT same problem, and had to send it in TWICE before it was fixed. Still don't know what the source of the problem was

I have ASUS g2s as well and the amount of problems in the laptop is absolutely ridiculous, there is always a trouble (video card, after fixing it I got screen problem etc.). I agree, with the previous comment the so called “CUSTOMER SERVICE” is Shit! Tbh. I will never ever get and asus laptop again or recommend it to anyone.

@benhebertdotcom I had done a google of ASUS and there was page after page of complaints. Why it takes so long to get a National lawsuit going is beyond me.

i had to ditch the asus and i bought a mac. got tired of trying to deal with their customer service. absolute worst

I have this same exact problem and just contacted consumerist about the issue. ASUS support is the absolute worst and does nothing to fix this problem

After having everything running nicely, the head phone jack has broken again.

They wanted me to send the Laptop back because they said it worked fine before they sent it to me. If I had to run Vista as if it was a new install then believe me there was no way they could have said it worked fine. Anyway, I got a copy of Windows 7 running on the Laptop now and the only problem left is the battery isn't fully charging - it is stuck on 92%.. ASUS is sending me a new battery via 2 day FEDEX. I would not recommend buying a laptop from this company.

The laptop came back today from the repair shop via FEDEX. Wasn't a clean Vista install - the User code they used was invalid so I had to call customer service and they walked me through a system recovery. Interesting because if the install contains the invalid product key, all I would be doing is reinstalling a bad product key again. I NEED A NEW PRODUCT KEY! Sure enough, the screen still says the install key is invalid after I told the rep several times the key is invalid.

The laptop has been sent in to ASUS they are going to try to install an operating system on a Hard Drive that has a crashed operating system. Hopefully they will also look at replacing the video card and fixing the head phone jack that is broken.

Update: A contact with the California Attorney General yielded a letter from ASUS which states they are sorry. Lots of misquoted information and that I need to get an RMA to send the laptop in. Why couldn't I get an RMA from customer service? The 510 number googled gives me different name online and complaints from customers who've had to RMA their laptops 5 times!

Update: Now I have Hard Drive problems. For a company that claims they have great customer service, I must have gotten one of the dumb ones. He would not acknowledge the screen flicker, told me to back up Data onto a device I had told him already froze up the laptop, Would not tell me if the problem number was valid or not, told me to do a system recovery but did not tell me how - I had to ask several times and he finally said F9.... Argh!

that sucks, im dealing with stupid costomer sirvice too but for somethin else. iv never herd of that brand laptop before.
